St. Thomas Episcopal Church was established in Holton, KS, in 1898. The building at 512 Wisconsin Ave. was constructed by some of the first parishioners and continued to be used for worship until 2022. As a parish, we know that "the church" in not a building, it is the community of the faithful. We are in a time of transition from meeting in a traditional church building to meeting online and exploring other settings for in person worship. Currently, we meet via Zoom for the service of Morning Prayer twice monthly and in person at First Christian Church for worship, including Holy Communion.
We Episcopalians believe in a loving, liberating, and life-giving God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. As members of the Anglican Communion in the United States, we are descendants of and partners with the Church of England and the Scottish Episcopal Church, and are part of the third largest group of Christians in the world.
Episcopalians believe in following the teachings of Jesus Christ, whose life, death, and resurrection saved the world. We have a legacy of inclusion, aspiring to tell and exemplify God’s love for every human being; women and men serve as bishops, priests, and deacons. All are welcome at St. Thomas!
